This is an unusually large cobblestone specimen that has a mass of 4.3kg. This specimen also exhibits great color and preservation. You can even make out the stipular wings that outline the petiole cross-sections.
The two images below "zoom" in on a petiole cross-section next to a root structure.
A Dino-Lite AD7013 MT 5.0 MP is used to zoom in on the leaf petiole at 50x. The Image was resized in Adobe Photoshop CS6.

The petioles of this Osmunda specimen exhibit a variety of colors and preservation states. The images below were taken at 80x, 100x, 150x and 100x with a Dino-Lite AD7013 MT 5.0 MP. Images were resized in Adobe Photoshop CS6.
