Sequoia Xylem
The tracheids making up this fossil Sequoia specimen are typical of a conifer. The cells are fairly uniform in appearance and arranged in radial rows. Notice the difference in the tracheid diameter as one moves from earlywood to latewood in the growth ring. The micrograph was originally taken at 40x.
