Pine Tree Resin Canals
Resin canals in pines (genus Pinus) are generally distributed evenly throughout the growth ring and occur singly. The image of this fossil pine from John Day, Oregon was taken at 40x. The diameter of pine tree resin canals ranges from 90 to 300 micrometers depending upon the species.
